Our Results

CQA is a consistently high performing charter school. Our middle school, which opened in 2012, is the highest performing charter middle school in Queens. In 2021 when our charter was last renewed, our charter authorizer, the SUNY Charter Schools Institute, noted CQA’s academic performance was higher than over 85% of all middle schools throughout New York State. Additionally, CQA was twice named a Reward School by the New York State Education Department.

New York state Proficiency Exams

CQA Proficiency vs. District 24 and New York City - 2019, 2022 and 2023

Note: Due to COVID-19, there were no exams given in 2020 and comparative results are not available for 2021 exams. School year 2023-2024 will be the first year our elementary scholars take the NYS assessment exams.

Algebra 1 Regents

In 2019, we redesigned our math program to increase rigor and prepare each and every CQA scholar for the Algebra I Regents Exam. Eighth grade scholars now take this exam in place of the New York State Math Assessment Exam. Taking this high-school level Regents course a year early gives scholars the opportunity to earn Regents credits a year early.

Earth Science Regents Exam

Similarly, CQA scholars also take the high school-level Earth Science Regents course in eighth grade. In 2022, 82% of the class passed the exam and received Regents credits a year earlier than the majority of their peers.

English Language Learners Excel

CQA’s ELL scholars transition out of ESL services more than three times faster than all NYCDOE students.

HIGH SCHOOL ACCEPTANCES

Our 8th grade guidance counselor works individually with each and every scholar to ensure they are matched with the high school that is right for them.

College Ready

Our scholars have reached new and exciting milestones. CQA graduates are now in college! The skills they learned at CQA prepared them for the high school and college level learning. Eighty percent of our scholars would be the first in their families to graduate from college.
